Our story
There are two places where Bayu begins.
The first is an ancient text. Ayurvedic scriptures, some over 5,000 years old, that read like the most detailed skincare manual ever written. Specific ingredients, specific proportions, specific intentions. Not folklore. A system. Researched, refined, and recorded by physicians who understood skin as part of a whole living body.
The second place is a kitchen. No labels. No measurements written down. Just a South Asian grandmother who knew which herbs calmed a breakout overnight, that oil belonged on your face before it belonged in a cleanser, that a bath with the right herbs wasn't indulgence but maintenance. She didn't cite a text. She didn't need to. The knowledge lived in her hands.
Here's what we found when we looked closely at both: they weren't saying different things. The grandmothers and the ancient physicians were drawing from the same well — the same deep understanding of plants, skin, and what the body actually needs. One tradition was written down. One was passed down. Both were right.
Our formulas live at that intersection. Every product borrows from Ayurvedic scripture- intentional, researched, nothing included lightly- and carries the fingerprints of the women who made this knowledge part of daily life for generations. Not a trend. Not a repackaging. A genuine meeting of two sources that were always pointing toward the same truth.
We didn't invent anything. We just finally put it all in one place.
Meet Rashika
A mom of two, and someone who has spent her life carrying two worlds at once.
Like many immigrants, she arrived in Canada with more than luggage. She brought the rituals, the aromas, the quiet certainty of her mother's and grandmother's kitchens. The neem. The oils. The things that just worked, that nobody ever had to explain, because they'd always been there.
When she became a mother, she went looking for the same thing for her daughters. She found products that were local, handmade, non-toxic, and made with care. But something was missing. The effectiveness. The familiarity. The specific comfort of ingredients that had been trusted across generations of her family before she was even born.
So she built it herself.
Bayu is Rashika's story in formula form. Rooted in Ayurvedic tradition, shaped by the warmth of Canadian life, and made for anyone who has ever stood between two worlds and refused to choose. Her daughters inspired the journey. Every mother, daughter, and grandmother who came before made it possible.
