Hydrating Skin Oil with Saffron, Rose & Calendula | Face Oil & Abhyanga Body Oil | Handmade in Canada
Ancient ritual. Modern skin science. One bottle.
Some things have always worked — they just needed the right name. For Ayurvedic practitioners, it was abhyanga. For your grandmother, it was simply oiling her skin before bed and waking up glowing. For modern dermatology, it's lipid-barrier restoration.
Bayu Hydrating Skin Oil brings all three together.
A slow-infused, face and body oil crafted with certified organic ingredients, for those who want their skincare rooted in something real — whether you're a seasoned Ayurveda enthusiast or just starting to explore herbal wellness for the first time.

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Infused with Saffron, Rose & Calendula)
The nourishing base of this formula. Coconut oil's lauric acid content gives it potent antimicrobial and deeply penetrating moisturizing properties — meaning it doesn't just sit on top of your skin; it works within the barrier. Clinically, it has been shown to significantly improve skin hydration and reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL). In Ayurveda, coconut oil is the gold standard for abhyanga — the traditional daily self-oil massage that stimulates circulation, calms the mind, and deeply nourishes the tissues. In kitchens across South Asia and the Caribbean, a pot of warm coconut oil was the original all-in-one beauty elixir.
Infused with three powerful botanicals:
Saffron (Crocus sativus / Kumkuma) — In modern cosmetic science, saffron's active compounds, particularly crocin, crocetin, and safranal, are studied for their antioxidant, anti-hyperpigmentation, and UV-protective properties. Clinically, saffron has shown promise in reducing the appearance of dark spots and improving overall skin luminosity. In Ayurveda, saffron is Varnya — a brightening herb that supports radiance and even complexion, traditionally reserved for brides and special skincare rituals. In grandmothers' kitchens from Punjab to Persia, a pinch of saffron soaked in oil or milk was the original "glow treatment," long before serums existed.
Organic Rose (Rosa damascena) — Beyond its unmistakable scent, rose offers real skin benefits: its flavonoids provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant protection, while rosy fatty acids help reinforce the skin's lipid barrier. Studies suggest rose extracts help soothe redness, support collagen, and improve hydration. In Ayurveda, rose is cooling (Pitta-pacifying), heart-opening, and revered for its Tridoshic properties — balancing for all constitutions. Your grandmother likely kept rose water in a spray bottle in the refrigerator — an instinct that modern skin science has fully validated.
Organic Calendula (Calendula officinalis) — One of the most clinically supported skin-healing botanicals in the world. Calendula's triterpenoids and flavonoids deliver measurable anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and wound-healing benefits — making it a go-to in both pediatric dermatology and natural skincare. Traditionally used across Ayurvedic, European herbal, and Indigenous healing systems for soothing irritated, sensitive, and inflamed skin. Whether it was a pot of marigold petals simmering on the stove or a salve passed down through generations, calendula has earned its place in every tradition.
Organic Sweet Almond Oil
Light, deeply moisturizing, and rich in oleic and linoleic acids, sweet almond oil (Prunus amygdalus dulcis) is a classic in both traditional and modern skincare. It absorbs readily without greasiness, helps soothe dry and irritated skin, and supports a healthy skin barrier. In Ayurveda, almond oil (Vatada Taila) is used to nourish the skin and nervous system, and is considered particularly beneficial for Vata skin types — thin, dry, and prone to premature aging. Historically, almond oil has been a beloved beauty staple across South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean traditions — the bottle your grandmother kept on her vanity was probably almond oil.
Organic Jojoba Oil
As close to the skin's own sebum as nature gets. Jojoba's unique waxy structure makes it an ideal carrier for sensitive and acne-prone skin alike, offering antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory benefits without clogging pores. It absorbs beautifully into the skin without residue, helping this formula feel like skin, not a coating.
Frankincense Essential Oil (Boswellia carterii)
One of the most ancient and revered botanicals on earth, and now one of the most studied in modern dermatology. Frankincense's boswellic acids have been shown to support collagen production, reduce inflammation, and improve skin elasticity. In Ayurveda, Shallaki (Boswellia serrata) is a revered anti-inflammatory herb used both internally and externally for its rejuvenating properties. Across ancient Egyptian, Ayurvedic, and Middle Eastern traditions, frankincense was used in sacred beauty rituals — the original "anti-aging" ingredient, before the term existed.
Vitamin E (Tocopherol)
A multitasking antioxidant that protects the skin's lipid barrier from free radical damage, supports healing, and preserves the integrity of all the plant oils in this formula — naturally, without synthetic preservatives.
How to Use
As a Face Oil: Apply 3–5 drops to clean skin morning or night, alone or layered under or over your moisturizer. Ideal for dry, dehydrated, and mature skin. (For oily or combination skin, patch test first — we recommend starting as a night oil.)
As a Night Ritual: Warm a few drops between palms, press gently into skin, and breathe in the subtle, grounding scent of frankincense and rose. That's it. That's the ritual.
As an Abhyanga Body Oil: Warm the bottle briefly under warm water. Massage from feet to heart using long, slow strokes — a practice rooted in Ayurvedic tradition for promoting circulation, calming the nervous system, and deeply nourishing the body. Especially beautiful as a pre-bath ritual.
Pre or Post Bath: Apply before bathing to protect skin during cleansing, or after bathing on slightly damp skin to lock in moisture.
